As part of a closed rollout, NetherRealm showed several cutscenes from the game that were not intended to be broadcast. Some visitors to the event broke this rule, filming a demo on video and then posting it on YouTube in low quality.

The leaked footage includes several story scenes. They feature iconic characters like the centaur Motaro, the vampire Nitara, and the Outworld fighter Reiko, among other things. All of these heroes first appeared in Mortal Kombat 3, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and Mortal Kombat 4, respectively.
