After a lean year in 2022, the Millionaire confirmed his status in the Professional League Tournament by claiming the club’s 38th domestic title.
River Plate stands as one of the two giants of Argentine football, a claim supported by its storied trophy cabinet. Across history, River has often been the most dominant national side at the league level. During Marcelo Gallardo’s celebrated era, the club expanded its collection with new national and international titles, areas where Boca Juniors found less engagement.
Following a year without championships, the squad guided by Martín Demichelis ended that drought by winning the 2023 Professional League Tournament, adding the 38th First Division crown in River’s history.
With the latest triumph, River Plate reaches 70 official titles in total, three behind Boca Juniors, the most successful club in Argentine football, which has 74 trophies.
