Colombia’s 2023 continental quotas explained

Colombia has eight continental slots: four for the top league and four for a separate competition known as the Other Half of Glory.

The Betplay League 2022 moves toward the final stretch of the second half of the season, while Dimayor has confirmed how the berths for the Libertadores and the South American Cup for the following year will be allocated.

In total, Colombia will secure eight spots: four for the BetPlay League champion clubs and four more for the Other Half of Glory, which will determine the league champions and the best teams from the Reclassification round.

Under the competition rules, the BetPlay League champion club DIMAYOR I 2022 (Colombia No. 1) and the BetPlay League champion club DIMAYOR II 2022 (Colombia No. 2) will represent Colombia in the CONMEBOL LIBERTADORES for 2023.

The club finishing highest in the Total Reclassification Table of the BetPlay DIMAYOR League 2022, without winning DIMAYOR I or DIMAYOR II, will earn Colombia No. 3. The remaining slot (Colombia No. 4) goes to the BetPlay Cup champion for 2022.

Colombia 1: League I champion, Atlético Nacional. Colombia 2: League II champion, Medellín or Pereira. Colombia 3: First reclassification position, TBD. Colombia 4: BetPlay Cup champion, Millonarios.

It is important to note that the regulations contain seven additional paragraphs detailing how quotas for the Libertadores might be adjusted based on different championship scenarios.

According to the rules, the teams that finish best in the Total Reclassification Table of La Liga BetPlay DIMAYOR 2022 and have not earned a Libertadores berth will represent Colombia in the SOUTH CONMEBOL competition for 2023 as Colombia No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4.
