Alicante City Council, at its recent session, approved a fresh tender process within the Sports Facilities Modernization Plan. The contract covers the supply and installation of video scoreboards and LED displays for the Pedro Ferrándiz Technology Center’s Municipal Pavilion, with an investment of 249,822 euros. This initiative is part of a larger effort to modernize the center, which includes upgrading the roof, renewing the air conditioning system, and reconfiguring access and lighting in a project valued at about 1.6 million euros.
The Sports Counselor, Toni Gallego, highlighted the goal of coordinating renovations across facilities to bring the complex up to international competition standards and event readiness. The aim is to create a high-quality, first-class venue that can host significant sporting occasions with efficiency and reliability.
Alicante will invest 3.5 million to address the Technology Center’s deficiencies
Currently, the City Council is moving the project draft to tender, focusing on improvements in energy efficiency, digitalization, and accessibility at the Technology Center. The basic starting budget stands at 80,342 euros, with the total investment projected to reach around 1.6 million euros. This funding will be backed by the Generalitat through New Generation funds, complemented by a 600,000-euro contribution from the City Council itself.
The sports council member noted that the reform plan for the Pedro Ferrándiz facility also covers energy efficiency improvements and the renewal of air conditioning through the installation of new equipment. A separate contract for comprehensive maintenance of facilities was awarded late last year to Serveo Servicios SA, valued at 627,849 euros for one year with up to four possible extensions of one year each.
Presently, Alicante’s council is advancing a program of improvement and modernization across sports facilities in the city, with more than six million euros allocated to Monte Tossal projects. Standout items include the renovation of Pitiu Rochel Pavilion, the Athletics Stadium, and paddle tennis courts. Other investments are incorporated into the 2024 budget, including the refurbishment of the Rafael Pastor pavilion and ongoing upgrades to municipal swimming pools.
