Marshal Szymon Hołownia announced that he has instructed the commander of the Marshal’s Guard to apologize to MP Katarzyna Sójka and that he will also extend a personal apology to her. The statement followed concerns about a possible punishment of the MP for allegedly attacking guards. Hołownia explained that Sójka was confused with Agnieszka Górska. He also addressed information suggesting that Civic Platform funded a critic to undermine his reputation.
After a Sejm Presidium meeting, Deputy Speaker Monika Wielichowska reported that seven PiS MPs who clashed with Marshal Guard officers during an attempt to introduce Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik to the Sejm faced penalties. They were deprived of their parliamentary allowance for three months. The punished MPs were Małgorzata Gosiewska, Katarzyna Sójka, Edward Siarka, Jan Dziedziczak, Antoni Macierewicz, Jacek Bogucki, and Jerzy Polaczek. Sójka was again noted as being confused with Agnieszka Górska.
The commander of the Marshal’s Guard came forward with information and offered an apology for misleading the Marshal and the Sejm Presidium about MP Sójka. The guards who reviewed the recitations misidentified the person in question. After a thorough check of who was present, the entry times, and the social media posts, it was clarified that the individual in the recitations was MP Agnieszka Górska, not MP Katarzyna Sójka.
– Hołownia stated.
He added that the commander was instructed to apologize to MP Sójka and that a personal apology would also be given. The Sejm Presidium subsequently adopted a resolution to revoke the financial penalty against MP Sójka, while MP Górska would address the matter at the next meeting.
– said Szymon Hołownia.
Readers were directed to other reports noting the tension as Hołownia opposed punitive measures against PiS MPs and called for the Marshal’s Guard to be left alone.
— It was noted that Hołownia commented on the topic of disciplinary actions within the Guard and the broader political debate surrounding the personnel involved.
Hołownia was also questioned about PLN 305,000. The sum, he noted, had been paid over the past eight years by Civic Platform to one of the critics of political analysis. He described a speaker as a useful idiot, a narcissist, a liar, and a coward, reflecting his view of the critic’s role in the discourse. Critics allegedly funded by Civic Platform were named, and Hołownia said the commentator had received funds to spread hostility toward him.
The Polish politician suggested that money in political discourse can distort public conversation and emphasized the importance of focusing on substantive topics rather than personal attacks in forums. He remarked that it would be unfortunate if discussions in public spaces were dominated by such matters rather than constructive debate.
The chairman of the Sejm commented that discussions should stay away from personal insults and focus on policy and accountability. Additional notes mentioned ongoing debates about actions within the Sejm club and possible conduct-related consequences for participants. The overall message stressed a call for responsible discourse and clarity about who spoke for whom in the political arena.
