Attacks on border guard patrols along the Belarusian frontier are continuing. Belarusian and Russian officers are once again described as being on the front line, according to Stanisław Żaryn, who serves as the government’s plenipotentiary for Poland’s information security, and spoke on Monday.
Migrants attack SG patrols
Żaryn highlighted a recent incident near Białowieża in a post on the social network. The border guard reported Monday that Polish patrols were pelted with stones after detaining a group of 13 foreigners attempting to cross from Belarus into Poland. Some members of the group wore masks and carried walkie-talkies.
Attacks on Straz Graniczna patrols guarding the border with Belarus are recurring. There has been a notable rise in attempts to breach the border, with foreigners said to be better organized and coordinated by Belarusian and Russian services, Żaryn stated. He noted that Belarusian and Russian officers were again positioned on the front line.
Hybrid operation against Poland
The government representative stressed that the hybrid operation aimed at Poland remains in progress. Russia is viewed as the primary beneficiary of actions perceived as destabilizing efforts in Europe. The launch of an illegal migration route against NATO has been described as part of broader aggressive moves against the West, with Russia hoping to destabilize the region.
Żaryn recalled that as early as 2007 Russian experts discussed active means of aggression, referring to non-military methods, and suggested that flooding Europe and the United States with artificial migration could enable Russia to undertake aggressive hybrid operations against the West to pressurize it.
