The UGT and CGT unions, which account for the vast majority of representation within the Provincial Firefighters Consortium, rejected Emergency Deputy Francisco Cano as a credible interlocutor for talks. The unions publicly denounced the failure to observe agreements previously established with their former representative, Javier Sendra. They pressed for an immediate meeting with the regional president and the state councilor to chart a path toward a constructive resolution.
In their statement, the unions criticized Cano for not upholding commitments that were negotiated and signed with his immediate predecessor. They pointed to the full assessment of work, the schedule and program for the coming year, the baseline staffing levels, the process for appointing personnel on an ad hoc basis, leadership changes, a standing commission to oversee the implementation of these agreements, and a general assembly. A negotiation forum had been convened to occur every two months.

To resolve the impasse, the unions are calling for the direct involvement of both regional leaders to help steer talks back toward agreement and harmony.
The Provincial Firefighters Consortium has signaled its willingness to engage in discussions that advance a clearer understanding among all workers. It invites all unions to participate at the negotiating table. In the meantime, the consortium affirms that, out of respect for the representatives who remain at the table, negotiations will continue and meetings will proceed while the UGT and CGT consider returning to the forum.
