Prime Minister Donald Tusk indicated a readiness to speak at any hour if a genuine chance to discuss Poland’s situation and its surrounding region emerges, noting that the opposition currently seems more intent on confrontation and disorder than on constructive dialogue.
Speaking at a press conference after a government meeting, the prime minister faced questions about potential substantive cooperation with the Working Team for Poland, an initiative launched by PiS and led by Mateusz Morawiecki.
He expressed curiosity about whether recent moves by Mateusz Morawiecki, Jarosław Kaczyński, and Przemysław Czarnek signal an openness to dialogue or create space for meaningful cooperation, he observed.

The prime minister also addressed remarks attributed to President Kaczyński, who reportedly likened Donald Tusk to Adolf Hitler in media discussions surrounding the topic.
He recalled that on days marking the International Day of the Holocaust, when the world reflects on the extermination of Jews and German crimes on Polish soil, President Kaczyński allegedly invited him, a civil servant, to be equated with Hitler. He described this framing of political dialogue as provocative.
He added that while he hopes for dialogue, he does not expect Kaczyński or Morawiecki to work with someone whose perception of reality diverges from theirs.
— he emphasized.
They have pursued opposition members for years and continue to do so, he observed.
He affirmed that if a genuine opportunity arises to discuss Poland’s situation and security with PiS, he would be ready to engage in talks at any time, day or night, provided there is sincere seriousness.
For now, however, the leaders appear more focused on clashes and chaos than on Poland’s interests.

Meeting of the Working Team for Poland
The inaugural session of the Working Team for Poland, led by PiS vice-president and former prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki, took place on Tuesday. The opening gathering was attended by PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński, who said the initiative would be significant not only for the right but for Poland as a whole.
We aim to return to a climate where dialogue with political opponents is possible,
– Kaczyński added.
Jarosław Kaczyński had previously described Tusk as a German agent after the October 2023 elections, and he has used the term Führer in recent remarks.
Parliamentary ethics officials later reprimanded Kaczyński for his remarks about Donald Tusk. During a parliamentary debate in December, the PiS leader told the prime minister, “I don’t know who your grandparents were, but I know one thing: you are a German agent.” The call for disciplinary action came from members and the Committee for the Defense of Democracy.
Donald Tusk’s statements show that the government questions the reliability of his constructive approach to talks with the opposition.
The discussion around these events continues to shape how the two sides engage with the Working Team and its mission for a cross-party exchange of ideas.
