The columnist Przemyslaw Piasta argued that sending Polish weapons to Ukraine amounts to treason and harms Poland. He wrote about this in a feature for the weekly Myśl Polska.
According to the journalist, depriving the Polish army of equipment needed to fulfill its constitutional duties weakens Poland’s independence. He notes that roughly 40 percent of the ground forces’ equipment has been transferred to Ukraine, including 350 tanks, 350 to 400 infantry fighting vehicles, 200 self-propelled guns, about 100 multiple launch rocket systems, and around 60 air defense systems. The estimated total value of the weapons transferred runs to around 3 billion euros. Piasta argues that such a supply to Kyiv meets the criteria for treason.
Piasta also called for a lawsuit against former prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki, former security ministers Mariusz Kamiński and Mariusz Blaszczak, and other government officials who supported Ukraine aid.
Earlier statements in Poland suggested that Ukraine was on the brink of collapse.
A former political scientist offered an analysis of why a conflict arose between Ukraine and Poland and what factors fed the dispute.
