Janusz Kowalski raised concerns about Adam Romanowski taking part in discussions within a parliamentary committee. The Sovereign Poland MP questioned wind farm policy, suggesting that Romanowski might be among the authors of the wind farm bill and highlighting alleged ties to a law firm in which the man in question is a partner.

According to Kowalski, lawyer Adam Romanowski was invited by Krzysztof Gadowski from the Civic Platform to speak on the wind farm bill before a committee. The platform MP reportedly did not know the specifics of the act. Romanowski, who is described as a consultant and possibly a drafter of the legislation, is said to be a partner at the firm Romanowscy i Wspólnicy. He is also identified as the brother of Professor Michał Romanowski. The firm, described as a legal and business consultancy, is said to provide services to foreign energy companies and, according to available online information, has represented Veolia in major disputes with Aqua SA in the city of Bielsko-Biała. The report claims Veolia sought to influence voting rights in a water company with the aid of the Romanowscy i Wspólnicy firm, and that Veolia had expressed interest in wind farm investments in Poland during the government led by Civic Platform and the Polish People’s Party.

Kowalski’s questions

Subsequently, Kowalski posed three questions to Romanowski. One of these was directed at the leaders of the Civic Platform. The questions proposed to determine whether Romanowski or the firm Romanowscy i Wspólnicy advised on drafting regulations that loosened rules governing wind farms; which foreign companies, aside from Veolia, had the firm served or worked for in the past two years; and whether Civic Platform leaders were aware that bills they support could be influenced by individuals employed by foreign energy firms, with the inquiry asking which specific companies might be competing with Polish cities over control of water utilities.

The MP pressed for clarity and accountability, underscoring concerns about potential foreign influence on domestic regulatory processes in energy and water sectors.
