When the windmill controversy emerged, Fakty TVN appeared to miss the moment entirely; Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki suggested on Monday that its outlets are worthy heirs to Jerzy Urban in tone and stance.

“They are the masters of censorship.”

During a Monday press briefing, government spokesman Piotr Müller and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki charged TVN journalists with avoiding questions about the so-called wind farm project and the broader wind-energy legislation unveiled at the conference.

The spokesperson notes that the TVN editorial team has not pressed on Lex Kloska either. There is no doubt about the windmill scandal in the public eye. TVN, Morawiecki asserted, will not expose what he claims is a suppression of information, labeling Fakty TVN as an institution that polices the line between reporting and editorial control. In Morawiecki’s view, these media actors are shaping a climate of censorship, while he says he was told that Fakty TVN failed to notice the windmill scandal as it broke. He added that such an omission echoes a dark chapter in media history and cautioned that the country should beware of institutions that harbor similar tendencies.

On November 28, a group of MPs from Poland 2050-TD and KO submitted to the Sejm a draft amendment to the Law on Support to Energy Consumers. The proposal would extend the freeze on energy prices until June 30, 2024, and includes provisions aimed at liberalizing the construction sector, including wind farms and wind turbines in Poland. The proposal signals a broader attempt to recalibrate energy policy while reshaping how wind infrastructure is developed and regulated.
