Officials aligned with the opposition are once again in the spotlight, raising questions about Poland’s security and its international image. In Brussels, Janina Ochojska, Łukasz Kohut, and Róża Thun organized a screening of the controversial film The Green Border by Agnieszka Holland at the European Parliament. Ochojska hinted on social media that a group comprising actors, producers, and the director had been invited to present the work in the Belgian capital.
Green Border Screening in the European Parliament
The film, which premiered on September 5 at the Venice Film Festival, targets Poland’s border defenses and portrays the guards and security agents of Poland in a harsh light, depicting them as harsh and unempathetic toward individuals allegedly brought to the border from Minsk by the regime.
Characters in the production appear to question the conduct of border security personnel, portraying them under a critical lens and frequently referring to those on the move as refugees.
Several moments in the film have sparked embarrassment among some viewers, including Agata Kulesza, who is shown indicating support for a political party, and Maciej Stuhr, who raises the term Nazi massacre in a heated context.
The opposition members—Ochojska, Thun, and Kohut—intend to present this film at the European Parliament. Ochojska, who has called for dismantling Poland’s border barrier and has repeatedly criticized the government over immigration policy, announced on social media that, besides Agnieszka Holland, actors and producers would participate in the event in Brussels.
Next Wednesday (8 November) the film The Green Border is scheduled to be shown at the European Parliament. The organizers, Kohut, Ochojska, and Thun, have invited director Agnieszka Holland along with actors and producers to Brussels
— according to Ochojska’s post.
The campaign against Poland, led by opposition MEPs, appears to be intensifying as the event approaches.
