The European Parliament election results in Baranów, the municipality where the CPK would be headquartered, and in Rząśnik, home to the village Plewica where a Polish soldier, Mateusz Sitek, lost his life, reflect a clear shift in public sentiment on December 13. In both communities, the ruling party performed decisively, with the Confederation also posting a solid showing.
In Baranów, 43.52 percent of voters backed PiS (682 people), while 23.10 percent supported KO (362 people). The Confederation earned a strong 16.91 percent (265 votes). The Third Way received 9.38 percent (147 voters), and the left captured 4.66 percent (73 voters).
Results in the municipality of Rząśnik
Rząśnik delivered PiS a commanding 53.5 percent of votes (1,430 people). Konfederacja placed second with 15.81 percent (356 people). KO finished third with 9.55 percent (215 people). The Third Way garnered 6.71 percent (151 people), and the left received 2.35 percent (53 people).

The Baranów outcome, where PiS clearly defeated KO, was likely influenced by the government’s ambiguous stance on the construction of the CPK. In Rząśnik, PiS’s decisive support may have been shaped by the death of Mateusz Sitek, a Polish soldier on duty on the Polish-Belarusian border, who was killed in a confrontation with an immigrant. Some voters may have connected the incident with reports that Donald Tusk’s administration concealed information about the detention of two Polish soldiers who fired warning shots at aggressive illegal arrivals.
