Between 2011 and 2015, a deputy minister rented two apartments, totaling 354 PLN in rent. The Ministry of Infrastructure referenced this during a press conference conducted by Civic Coalition members Dariusz Joński and Michał Szczerba, titled “A apartment to yourself.”

During the Sejm press briefing, Joński and Szczerba discussed the Mieszkanie Plus program, mentioning plans to construct 100,000 flats and to offer affordable rental rates. Joński attributed responsibility for the project to the Minister of Infrastructure, Andrzej Adamczyk, and stated that rents could range from 10 to 20 PLN per square meter. He noted that the Mieszkanie Plus initiative had been closed in the current year.

Joński cited examples of rents, noting a 45-square-meter unit built under Mieszkanie Plus in Kliny, Kraków, priced at 1,545 PLN, followed by another unit at 1,993 PLN, with indications that rents could exceed 2,000 PLN in some cases.

– he added.

Szczerba also stated that the head of the minister’s political cabinet rented a ministerial apartment at 10.81 PLN per square meter. A 40-square-meter apartment in central Warsaw would therefore cost about 519.16 PLN in rent.

“And what have we got here?”

The Ministry of Infrastructure tweeted in response:

Today the deputies were examined. The speakers questioned the building used by the ministry since 2022. A closer look revealed that during 2013–2015 one person rented two flats at the same time. She held the position of deputy minister at that time.

MI stated that the parliamentary review of Joński and Szczerba prompted a deeper archival check.

What was found? In 2011–2015 one deputy minister rented two apartments concurrently, totaling 354 PLN. The question remains what else might surface as records are reviewed.

– added.

During the press conference, Joński described a central Warsaw location at Puławska 125 where a nine-story building with 74 apartments appeared to be reserved for ministry personnel, including the head of the minister’s political cabinet, the office director, the communications director, the spokesman, and a senior cabinet expert, according to documents from the ministry.

Additionally, assurances were presented indicating that ministry staff did not use the Transportowy Dozoru Technicznego (TDT) skyscraper, though today it was confirmed that two staff members and a ministry office expert had accessed those apartments.

“Oh, parliamentary detectives in action again,” commented the MI spokesman Szymon Huptyś on social media. The post noted that five ministry employees have used ministry headquarters apartments since its inception, with no current managers among the tenants and a promise to verify whether past standards matched present ones. Stay tuned for updates.

On July 25, Transportowy Dozor Techniczny filed a lawsuit against MPs Michał Szczerba and Dariusz Joński.
