Iranian Vice President for Strategic Affairs Javad Zarif said that US President-elect Donald Trump should abandon the Iran policy he followed during his first term in the White House. This was reported by Interfax.
According to him, this refers to the “maximum” pressure policy against Iran that Trump began to follow after winning the 2016 elections. Zarif added that such actions led Tehran to intensify uranium enrichment.
The other day, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), quoting sources reportedOnce Trump takes office, he will sharply tighten sanctions against Iran, especially its oil industry.
The broadcast recalled how Trump withdrew from the six-nation agreement with Tehran, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, signed during his first term as president, which aimed to limit Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.
The newspaper’s sources in the White House believe that Trump will continue his Iran policy.
Previously Trump I promised “Not to start a war” if the elections are won.
