The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the proposal of the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to replace liquefied gas from Russia with American gas. Zakharova wrote this about him telegram channel.
On Von der Leyen’s side, such an offer was made to the elected US President Donald Trump.
In response, Zakharova pointed out that “the statements of the president of the European Commission are pure populism.” The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Europe is looking for spot volumes (short-term) as it plans to significantly reduce gas consumption in the future.
“The cost of short-term cargo is the same: prices are determined by the supply market, not the origin market,” he explained.
