“I have never been in favor of any electoral list of democratic parties, especially now that it concerns the October 15 coalition,” MP Marek Sawicki (PSL) emphasized in an interview with PAP when asked about the possibility of a joint start of the coalition. ruling coalition parties in local elections.
PO and New Left together in local government elections
The Civic Platform and New Left have started discussions about creating a joint coalition in the local elections to be held on April 7. On January 20, the Minister of Science and Vice President of the New Left, Dariusz Wieczorek, announced that regional authorities would present their proposals on the issue at the end of January.
Earlier, the national board of the New Left gave the leaders of the parties: Robert Biedroń and Włodzimierz Czarzasty permission to enter into coalition talks with the chairman of the PO, Donald Tusk.
We are a governing coalition and in this form we must participate in the local and European elections
– Biedroń told PAP.
KO MP Mariusz Witczak is also in favor of joining forces in local elections as part of the coalition currently in power in Poland.
The October 15 coalition must – where possible – agree on common candidates and join forces. This is the motto that must accompany us
– the KO MP told PAP.

Sawicki: Questions about a coalition broader than the Third Way – irrational
When asked by PAP about the joint start of the ruling coalition in the local elections, Sawicki recalled that two weeks ago the leaders of the Third Way – Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz (PSL) and Szymon Hołownia (Polska 2050) – had announced that PSL and Polska In 2050 we went to the local elections as a Third Way Committee.
Therefore, these types of questions and invitations are simply unreasonable and unnecessary. Let the gentlemen concentrate on the preparation of the municipal elections and their committees and do not bother others with it
– said the PSL MP, referring to the statements of left-wing and KO politicians.
Sawicki pointed out that he has never been in favor of “a single list among democratic parties, especially now when it comes to the October 15 coalition.”
“Let us not lie to the people that we have a unity government in Poland.”
These are very different entities that differ from each other in many ways. Therefore, there is no point or necessity to lie to the people that a national unity government has suddenly been created in Poland and that everyone is the same. We are not the same. I do not identify with either the left or the Civic Coalition, which are different political entities
– noted Sawicki.
I am still a member of the Polish People’s Party and our program and objectives are in many ways very different from those of our partners within the governing coalition.
– added the People’s Party MP.
Kosiniak-Kamysz: If we follow one list, we will lose in many voivodeships
PSL President Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz recently commented on this issue, saying that it would be very good if two blocs were created in the local elections: the Third Way as one and the PO with the Left as the second.
We will not win local elections in many voivodeships if we are all on one list
– said Kosiniak-Kamysz.
On January 11, the leaders of Poland 2050 and PSL – Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Szymon Hołownia – announced that their formations would establish a joint electoral committee for voivodeship assemblies, provinces and municipalities and continue the Third Way project. The local elections will take place on April 7 and 21.
