The guests of the program “Salon Dziennikarski” discussed the demonstration called “Protest of the Free Poles”, organized by PiS on January 11. Key PiS politicians, including President Jarosław Kaczyński and former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, invite to the demonstration.
First of all, this game requires perseverance. This is a problem that will continue for years to come, and it would be great if this persistence were enough. Second, these protests must be balanced; they cannot be exclusively partisan. PiS must understand that it must also be a social protest and this means that social factors must mobilize. In short, teams should be created to, for example, document the circumstances in which people are dismissed from work and raise the alarm when situations of law-breaking arise.
– he said Piotr Semkacolumnist of the weekly magazine “Do Rzeczy”.
The journalistic community must care for people who find themselves in very difficult situations. I suspect that among those fired from public media will be, for example, mothers who have children to support. Finding a new job can be very difficult for them
– added.
Marek Grabowskichairman of the Mom and Dad Foundation, said PiS has not focused enough on grassroots movements so far.
I have the impression that PiS did not fully trust the social factor during these 8 years. He was not a force who wanted to get involved in grassroots movements. (…) It was a mistake by PiS, but PiS will have to think and work on this strategy in the next elections
– said Marek Grabowski.
“The social power and energy is still very strong”
The social power and energy are still very strong. (…) There was a moment when it looked like the election would be won after all, and here I think the conservative electorate is primarily a bit frustrated and depressed and is looking at this situation very carefully.
– he said, adding that current protests against the attack on public media “are numerous, but not very numerous.” However, Grabowski admitted that the course of the ‘Free Poland protest’ would be very important for society.
I think this will be the first adjustment. (…) This first adjustment will be very important. Here the turnout and the photos that will be shown will be crucial for the country to see that there can be strength
– he pointed out.
In my opinion, people are simply outraged by what is happening and the way in which power is being taken over. We cannot look at this protest as if the frustrated voters want to express their opinion, because this is not the motivation, but the people are speechless and extremely outraged by what the government is doing.
– she emphasized Jolanta Hajdaszdirector of the SDP Press Freedom Monitoring Center.
Lawyer Marek Markiewicz he pointed out that in the public media, under the control of the nominees for Donald Tusk’s coalition, the propaganda will be quite subtle; topics that are uncomfortable for those in power will simply not be discussed at all.
Propaganda will be based on silence, not pressure; it will be the other way around
– said lawyer Markiewicz.
