There was applause, high-fives, hugs, and lawmakers stood up. PP and Vox approved their 2024 budget yesterday, the first of the Consel under Carlos Mazón. The 52 votes of the two parties that make up the Regional Government exceeded 46 against PSPV and Compromís, and verified accounts indicate that the growth of 4.5% compared to the last Botànic, as well as serving as mortar for the coalition against the conflict between these two parties . They exist at the state level and are fighting the Spanish Government over the budget deficit limit.

Yesterday, Mazón’s manager successfully passed a test that is not without risks beyond the final vote, hence his “satisfaction”. “Changes are also ongoing in budgets,” the Consell chairman said, along with Treasury chief Ruth Merino, who he called as soon as voting ended to congratulate him on his work. He noted that the total amount was 29 billion 732 million euros, which was “a record budget in social investment.”

The celebration of popular leaders and voxistas in parliament goes far beyond putting numbers on a financial project. Budgets are the norm that defines the limits of a government’s political action, and the PP and Vox have carried this forward almost without a scratch, sparing themselves from the dissolution of both entities in Madrid or difficulties in other regions.

There was no tension between the two parties, neither in the negotiations within the Executive nor in the subsequent parliamentary process. Or if there was, they knew how to hide something the partners were bragging about. “These budgets were approved without any glitches,” said PPCV ombudsman Miguel Barrachina, comparing this to what was happening at Botànic and thanking Vox’s counterpart Ana Vega.

500 million mismatches

“This is just the beginning,” added the voxista spokesman, who intervened to say goodbye to his colleague José María Llanos, who will take over his duties. Both groups jointly submitted over a hundred amendments. Of the more than 3,000 votes proposed by the opposition, PP and Vox were split by only a dozen votes.

Budget restrictions have not only closed ranks but also highlighted the conflict between Consell and the central government. Although the Ministry of Finance determined the budget deficit as 0.1 percent, PP and Vox did not comply with the ministry’s instructions yesterday and realized their budgets with a discrepancy of 0.3 percent, that is, a difference of two tenths or 290 million. María Jesús Montero.

In addition, there is a prediction that 200 million euros more than the amount the central government will send through the financing system will be received from the state. This imbalance could reach 500 million, but the Managing partners refused to make changes to the project. Moreover, they accused Sánchez of engaging in an “information boycott” and of wanting to “burden their agreement with the independence movement by piggybacking on the autonomies.” Meanwhile, the opposition criticizes that the imbalance will bring about cuts.

PSPV and Comprom’s accusation against “denialist budgets”

PP and Vox MPs were still celebrating the approval of the accounts when Compromís deputy trustee Aitana Mas began to intervene. “I’m sorry to interrupt the emotional moment,” he said, before launching into an attack on the newly passed budgets as “denialist,” “sectarian,” and “contradictory.”

PSPV and Compromís voted against the budgets, but today the 46 votes represented by the left wing are in the minority compared to the 53 votes of the PP and Vox. The Valencian spokesperson accused PP and Vox of not being a responsible government or open to dialogue, adding in his criticism: “These accounts turn their backs on the people of Valencia” and are the creators of “social hell”.

PSPV ombudsman José Muñoz also stated his financial opposition to the project. Regarding the budget, he pointed out that this was “unfair” and “bad” for the Valencian Community, because the budget only benefited “a minority of people”; There is “imaginary income that will not be realized”, doomed to “cuts” and will mean increasing debts. But the socialist leader added that they voted not only against the budgets but also “for the whole political situation that the Valencian Community is experiencing.” In this sense, he recalled the “siege” of the socialist headquarters and blamed the “coup” carried out by Vice President Barrera against MP José Chulvi the day before. “This is a very dangerous line,” he added.

Likewise, Muñoz addressed his people. He said the current Consell was a “black bracket”, that the difference between the blocs last March 28 was minimal and that the work of the parliamentary group was “the beginning of the progressive future”. “Tornarem,” he finished.
