We discuss how we can include ideological issues in the coalition agreement to make it constructive; some ideological issues will certainly be included, but specific provisions are still being discussed – said KO MP Andrzej Domański, one of the contract negotiators, in the PAP studio.
Domański, co-founder of the economic part of the Civic Platform program and advisor to Donald Tusk, when asked whether the coalition agreement would be announced on Monday, emphasized that the specific date and formula of its publication depend on the decision of the leaders of the coalition parties .
Together with our colleagues from the Derde Weg and Links, we are responsible for the substantive part and the specification of program points (…). The conversations are going very well. After the first days we see that there is much more that unites us than divides us
– he said.
As he said, rotating the position of the Chairman of the Sejm is one of the concepts under consideration and on the table.
We are currently having substantive discussions about the government’s plan for the first 100 days. We discuss what economic policy should look like over the next four years
– added.
When asked whether ideological issues would be included in the coalition agreement, he replied that the agreement was broad.
The issue of abortion is one of the areas in which we distinguish ourselves somewhat from our colleagues from other coalition groups. We discuss how we can take ideological issues into account to make it constructive. Some ideological issues will certainly be included, but specific provisions are still under discussion
– Domański informed.
He emphasized that one of the KO’s election promises was to present a ‘white paper’ on public finances.
We will start working on it immediately after the actual takeover, but the conceptual work is already underway
– he said.
When asked what about the promise to increase the tax-free amount to PLN 60,000? PLN emphasized that KO wants to implement this point.
We also discussed reducing the burden on social insurance institutions and issues related to health insurance contributions. We will strive to implement these proposals based on data. (…) We are not making the details of the coalition agreement public at this time, but as a Citizens Coalition we naturally strive to include as many of our program points as possible. . Of course, negotiations are still ongoing and both parties will have to make concessions
– said Domanski.
Domański: We will strive to keep gas and energy prices frozen
We will strive to ensure that gas and electricity prices for households and local governments are frozen in 2024 at a level comparable to this year – said Andrzej Domański (KO) in the PAP studio. He indicated that a possible extension of zero VAT on food would be subject to negotiations.
We will strive to ensure that gas prices are frozen and that electricity prices are also frozen at a level very close to this year’s level, of course for households and local authorities.
– said Domański in an interview, who is co-creator of the economic part of the Civic Platform program and advisor to Donald Tusk.
He added that the zero VAT rate on food, which expires at the end of this year, was not included in the draft 2024 state budget drawn up by the current United Right government.
This will be the subject of ongoing discussions and agreements with our coalition partners. We still don’t know who will hold what position. It is not my role to step into the shoes of the economic decision makers who will make the decision, but I repeat in the draft budget presented by the PiS government that VAT is already at a higher level
– Domański noted.
He emphasized that cumulative inflation in Poland over the past eight years was 47%.
He recalled that inflation is currently still more than twice the NBP inflation target.
Will prices drop? This is unlikely. We want prices to rise as slowly as possible, but this is primarily the task of the National Bank of Poland, because the National Bank of Poland and the Monetary Policy Council have the tools to fight inflation. As we know, they did this very ineffectively in recent years
– said the KO MP.
When asked what the new government’s cooperation with the President of the National Bank of Poland, Adam Glapiński, would look like, he emphasized that the government’s fiscal measures and the monetary policy of the National Bank of Poland are in some sense mutually exclusive. replenish.
We will see what actions the Monetary Policy Council and the National Bank of Poland will take. Our goal is not war. We will have to have some form of dialogue, but we count on responsible behavior from NBP
– he said.
He also believed that the new president of the Polish Financial Supervisory Authority should be appointed by the new Prime Minister. The five-year term of the current chairman of the Polish Financial Supervisory Authority, Jacek Jastrzębski, expires on November 23.
Domański assured that there is no plan to privatize companies controlled by the Ministry of Finance. He also emphasized that Orlen must be depoliticized.
It is very clear and readable that Orlen entered politics. What we saw before the elections, namely the artificial lowering of fuel prices, clearly for electoral purposes. PLN 5.99 was a price that did not correspond to market prices at all. We know that the company suffered losses as a result, we know that there was a shortage of this fuel at many stations
– said the KO MP.
We will pursue a responsible economic policy, which will lead to a strengthening of the zloty exchange rate, and therefore we hope that gasoline prices at gas stations will be lower. However, we are facing a conflict in the Middle East, which threatens to cause further unrest in the oil market. And this could potentially affect prices at gas stations
– said Domanski.
The lengthy negotiations on the coalition agreement clearly show how great the program differences are between KO, Third Way and Left. Philosophical issues in particular evoke many emotions. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has already announced that he does not agree at all to include them in the coalition agreement. What will be the ultimate effect of the opposition’s agreement?
