Let’s leave the election campaign alone. Let’s take a cool look at the political scene and the fact that there is actually a preponderance of conservative and Christian parliamentarians in the Polish Sejm. This gives food for thought and room for discussion, Przemysław Czarnek, head of the Ministry of National Education and Science, told Polsat News on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the National Electoral Commission announced the official results of the parliamentary elections. PiS won 194 seats in the Sejm elections, KO – 157; Third way – 65; New Left – 26; Confederacy – 18.
Conflicting demands from the opposition
When asked what sense there is in entrusting the formation of the government to the PiS candidate, given that this party does not have a majority in the Sejm, Minister Czarnek pointed out in Polsat News that it will be much more difficult to form an opposition government. – “a government in which there will be representatives of both groups that want to ban animal breeding and eating meat or introduce incredible things into schools, and of PSL, which also includes people who absolutely identify with conservative and Christian values.
According to him, PiS is more likely to form a government than the opposition.
We still have seven weeks and many conversations ahead of us. I am convinced that we will see many interesting situations
– said the head of MEiN.
Let’s leave the election campaign alone. Let’s take a cool look at the political scene and the fact that there is actually a preponderance of conservative and Christian parliamentarians in the Polish Sejm. It makes you think and gives room for discussion
– Czarnek noted.
When asked about his attitude towards PSL, he admitted that when he was voivode of Lublin, he said in conversations with PSL members that if Law and Justice had never been introduced, if I had not been a member of PiS, “I would probably consider running in a party like the PSL – a peasant party, a people’s party, conservative, Christian – because that’s what it is – despite the mistakes it has made in the past,” he said.
PSL’s Miłosz Motyka responded to a similar statement from the head of MEiN on the X platform on Wednesday, writing:
He could apply, but people who live out of hatred are not accepted in PSL. No kind words can save them from justice.
I am not going to join any PSL, but I have said many times, even years ago, what the nature of the party is
– emphasized Minister Czarnek.
He emphasized that his words “are not any form of courtship, but just a cold assessment of the post-election situation.”
Creating a government on the other side, which will include ten or eleven groups, including completely anti-farmer and anti-farmer groups, will be more difficult. These types of coalitions can fall apart not only because of fur animals, but also because of many other things
– said Czarnek.
As he noted: “It is not a matter of creating a Senate pact that you can oppose just to be anti-PiS and campaign for four years.”
It is not about jointly participating in an election campaign, which has its own rules, but about taking responsibility for the state and taking specific decisions imposed from that side.
– said the head of MEiN.
Little chance to rule independently
He declared that “independent PiS rule was impossible.”
We gave ourselves some chances, but they were few
– Czarnek relented. After all, as he noted, “the result of 35.38%, with such a high turnout of 74.38%, is a good assessment of our government.”
Despite this record turnout, we have over a million more votes than the PO and 3 million more than other parties.
– added.
When asked whether the transfer of power will take place and MP Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk (left) will take over the office of Minister of Education and Science, she will be received with flowers, Minister Czarnek said: “I would not like to have someone from the left to be the representative of education, because today this party is no longer on the left as it was twenty years ago. I think that many MPs from the Civic Platform and especially from PSL do not want this either.
If the left were to take over the reins of the Ministry of Education, I expect the school to be ideologized
– said Minister Czarnek. He emphasized that currently “the school is not ideologized.”
It is governed by directors appointed by the governing bodies
– he pointed.
As he added, “If something changes, you have to behave politely. Flowers can even be beautiful,” he concluded.
