Chocolate company Valor expands its footprint in the Basque Country with a new chain of chocolate shops. The La Vila organization announced the opening of a store this week, marking the brand’s first establishment in this autonomous community and signaling a renewed push at the heart of local retail momentum.

With this launch, Chocolates Valor adds to a network that now includes 34 chocolatiers. Company disclosures show 27 are owned stores while seven operate under a franchise model, distributed across Spain and Andorra. The new shop occupies a 238 square meter space in a vibrant pedestrian area within a commercial district and offers seating for up to 70 guests. The store’s refreshed design leans on warm brown tones to evoke the brand’s cocoa heritage, creating a welcoming, sunlit atmosphere. A broad central table and a prominent street-facing window invite passersby to enjoy the surrounding city energy.

The opening underscores Valor’s renewed growth trajectory, reinforcing its focus on retail sales while continuing to emphasize other core product lines such as tablets and cocoa powder. Although the emphasis remains on these finished goods for consumer channels, the brand also highlights its broader distribution strategy in the northern regions of Spain and beyond.

Valor positions itself as a leader in premium dark chocolate, almond chocolate, sugar-free varieties, and drinking chocolate. All products are manufactured at the Vila Joiosa and Ateca facilities in Zaragoza. The company has a heritage spanning more than a century, and its 2021-2022 fiscal year closed with revenues near 127 million euros and a production level around 21,500 tons. The business has continued to invest in quality and capacity to meet growing demand.

Exports have played a critical role in Valor’s growth, accounting for approximately 20% year-over-year gains in challenging market conditions marked by rising costs and supply chain tensions. The company notes notable activity in markets such as the United States, Canada, and Chile, among more than 60 destinations worldwide where its products are distributed. This geographic diversification supports sustained revenue streams and brand visibility across North America and beyond.

The brand emphasizes leadership in Spain within high-value segments, including high cacao content, sugar-free lines, and hazelnut varieties, as well as a growing hot chocolate repertoire. Valor also manages its own brand trademarks and explores new product lines, strengthening its position in the snack and confectionery market. The company notes a substantial share in the chocolate snack category, driven by solid sales volumes and a broad distribution network.
