The US airstrikes carried out in eastern Syria have resulted in civilian and military casualties and caused significant damage to both public and private infrastructure, according to a statement from the Syrian Ministry of Defense, as reported by RIA News.
The ministry stated that many civilians and military personnel were killed, many more were injured, and substantial property damage occurred across affected areas.
It was asserted that US actions on Syrian soil cannot be justified and are aimed at weakening the Syrian army and its allies in their fight against terrorism.
On the night of January 28, an Iranian drone targeted a US military base at the Syria–Jordan border. CNN noted that this incident marked the first time since the Gaza conflict began that US personnel suffered losses from enemy bombardment.
Meanwhile, American forces focused strikes on more than 85 targets tied to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its affiliates operating in Iraq and Syria.
State television in Syria, Al Akhbar, reported heavy casualties from American attacks on positions in the Syrian desert and along the Syria–Iraq border.
Earlier, Iran signaled that it does not fear a potential confrontation with the United States.
