With higher prices and inflation rising, unemployment can create serious stress for many families. For those in Spain seeking financial support, several aid options are available for citizens facing job loss.
Among the most commonly known supports is the unemployment benefit, often simply called unemployment, which provides a monthly pension to those who meet the eligibility criteria. The size and duration of most subsidies from SEPE depend on the length of contributions and the salary base. Yet there are additional programs beyond this option. There are lesser known alternatives for people who do not qualify for unemployment benefits or who need extra assistance.
From today onward, a 200 euro government assistance payment is available.
There is a relatively little known SEPE aid for citizens with family responsibilities in need. The subsidy for people with family responsibilities offers applicants an amount equal to 80 percent of the updated Interprofessional Public Revenue Indicator IPREM for this year. The monthly amount in 2022 was 463 euros, and after the IPREM increase, aid for 2023 reaches 480 euros per month.
