Neighbors were unnerved by a strong odor last night, which led them to a thicket near the residence where, on June 18, Jorge, a retired local police officer, killed and decapitated his partner, Soledad, before taking his own life.

One week after the two bodies were found, authorities confirmed that Soledad’s head had been recovered by the Civil Guard from a secluded spot about 200 meters from the crime scene, according to case sources close to the investigation.

Strong odor

This Monday at midnight, a neighbor who knew the victim reported the unusual scent of decay emanating from a rural plot, prompting him to alert the Local Police.

Amid the undergrowth, inside a bag, investigators recovered the human remains of Soledad and contacted the Civil Guard, who had been searching since June 18. The Judicial Police Team of the Civil Guard in Colmenar Viejo collected the remains and transported the head to the Institute of Legal Medicine for autopsy.

A rifle and a shotgun

Since discovering the crime, the Civil Guard had been seeking Soledad’s head. Recounted by a sister of the victim, detectives went to the home a week ago and found the woman’s body in the garage, showing multiple gunshot wounds, as reported by this investigative channel.

In a room on the first floor lay the body of her partner and alleged killer, Jorge, a 53-year-old retired local police officer. The home also contained a carbine, a shotgun, and several knives that could have been used after the crime.

According to investigative sources, all signs point to Jorge firing multiple shots at his wife, decapitating her, disposing of the head, and then taking his own life, possibly with the hunting carbine.

She wanted to separate

Soledad had decided to separate from her husband, the father of their third child. He did not accept her decision, and she began legal procedures. The previous week, the 65-year-old woman traveled to London to visit her eldest daughter. While she was away, Jorge, 53, received a formal notice instructing him to abandon the home in Soto del Real (Madrid), which belonged to Soledad.

When she returned, the family learned a harsh truth: the legal process and the threat to leave intensified the tension that ultimately culminated in tragedy.

A pistol shot to the heart

Soledad returned to Madrid on June 14. Early findings by the Civil Guard did not yet establish whether the crime occurred on Saturday or Sunday, but they confirm the timeline of the final hours for both the killer and his victim after her return. Jorge fired two .22-caliber rounds at close range, hitting Soledad in the heart and causing her death, before continuing to move through the house.

The homicide occurred on the ground floor of the residence on Vicente Aleixandre Street in Soto del Real (Madrid). Initial data suggest the killer spent at least one day with the body on a room carpet before transporting it to the garage and placing it on a wooden beam. He then decapitated her with an axe, ending a disturbing sequence of events.

There is no known note left behind. The investigation continues as authorities piece together the hours that led to the crime and the subsequent acts of the killer.

A bottle of whisky

Relatives close to Soledad began reaching out to her mobile phone, which remained powered on but unanswered. In a grim turn, the killer disposed of his wife’s head. He did not own a car at the time, yet during that weekend he had access to three vehicles: his own BMW motorcycle, his father’s car, and the victim’s Audi A3 yellow, which complicated the investigative trail.

Returning home with the remainder of the body in the garage, Jorge went to the attic with a bottle of whisky and a hunting shotgun. He consumed the drink and shot himself in the chest. No note has been found to explain the motives behind the acts. (Source: Civil Guard reports and local authorities)
