The new online platform for booking and paying for pre-appointment vehicle inspections, operated by Sitval, the public company responsible for conducting ITV inspections, has processed 92,933 appointments and generated 4,543,156 euros since its launch on July 15. Of the total, 20,466 appointments and 1.4 million euros pertain to the Alicante province.
The Department of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism has summarized the first month of the platform’s operation, detailing the results by province. The three inspection stations Sitval runs in Castellón handled 6,672 appointments, bringing in 328,428 euros. In the eleven ITV stations across Alicante, 30,466 appointments were completed, yielding 1,467,661 euros. Finally, the thirteen stations in Valencia province managed 55,795 appointments, with earnings totaling 2,747,067 euros.
The Minister for Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, who also chairs Sitval, highlighted that these figures demonstrate how one of the major issues encountered during the company’s reversal process upon joining the regional government has been resolved: appointment availability.
In this regard, she emphasized that the new online appointment system with direct payment to the inspection station is one of the measures that has had the most positive impact on users.
In total, the bookings and online payments carried out during the first five weeks of the platform’s operation required 33,303 hours of inspection work across the vehicle inspection network.
Plan of Action
This web platform forms part of Sitval’s plan of action, which also includes strengthening staffing by recruiting, in the short term, 109 fixed public employees to bolster the workforce.
This staff expansion is expected to stabilize this public vehicle inspection service while maintaining the quality levels pursued by authorities.
Additionally, the appointment management platform has introduced a new color-based system to help users gauge appointment availability at each station for vehicle inspections more accurately.
Thus, green indicates that an appointment can be booked within less than 30 days, orange shows availability between 30 and 45 days, and red signals a wait time beyond 45 days.
