This was confirmed to Europa Press by officials from the Canary Islands High Police and by the man in question. He is set to appear in court this Wednesday, marking the next step in a case that has drawn significant attention across the islands.
Vargas had been granted parole pending trial on two counts of sexual abuse after complaints were filed almost a year ago. The allegations emerged from his daughter and from the daughter of his former partner, prompting a full review of his status while the legal process moved forward.
Regarding Tuesday’s complaint, reports from the newspaper Canarias7 and Europa Press indicate that the serious concerns were raised at the Civil Guard barracks in the southeastern part of the region when the current partner disclosed troubling details of abuse she had experienced. The gravity of the accusation prompted immediate attention from law enforcement, and the case was brought to the attention of authorities without delay.
Following the reported incident, the Benemérita coordinated with the National Police. Officers located Vargas and detained him for transfer to the Southern District Police Station of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He is currently awaiting trial at the Baskent No. 2 Court of Violence Against Women, where the case will proceed according to the established legal procedures and protections for victims of domestic violence.
