Madrid’s traditional Las Letras neighborhood in Madrid hosts a celebration that fuses wine, culture, and history from May 30 to June 16. This edition spotlights the city’s literary legacy, inviting visitors to explore the area once home to emblematic writers of Spain’s Golden Age who shaped centuries of storytelling. The weeklong event weaves the aroma and flavors of Noc wines with the first edition of the Noc Wine and Literature Route, offering a distinctive experience for wine lovers and culture enthusiasts alike while staying right in the heart of the capital.
The initiative, led by winemaker Ignacio de Miguel, opens access to 24 restaurants and 11 shops within the neighborhood. Here, guests stroll among streets once lived by Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Quevedo, Tirso de Molina, and Góngora, savoring a glass of Noc wine at each stop for an appealing price between 3.50 and 4 euros. At every venue, visitors can enjoy wine while they pick up the official road map from the first stop at Vinoteca Viñero located at Calle León 29.
Collect stamps and win prizes
Every tasting earns a stamp on the map and a winner card that unlocks prizes such as a reusable cork, a wine and kisses lipstick, a Noc corkscrew, a purse, and bottles of Noc Coupage and Noc Viognier. Collecting five stamps enters participants into a raffle for a remarkable experience for two people: a visit to Bodegas Noc in Manzaneque, Toledo, including a dinner and an overnight stay. This route celebrates the flavors of participating eateries while presenting a chance to discover the pairing potential of Noc wines with local dishes.
As participants wander the Literature District, they also encounter a vibrant atmosphere that blends historic facades with modern life. The route encourages casual discoveries of Madrid gastronomy, inviting visitors to savor the harmony between literature-inspired streets and the city’s evolving culinary scene. The experience emphasizes strolling through a neighborhood that feels alive with storytelling, music, and the bustle of daily life, all set under the mild Madrid weather.
The Noc wines featured on the route include a selection curated to complement regional flavors, inviting guests to compare the aromatic profiles and textures of different vintages. The program aims to provide more than tastings; it delivers a narrative of Madrid’s literary past alongside contemporary wine culture. Participants can expect thoughtful pairings, guided insights into the winemaking process, and opportunities to learn about how Montes de Toledo’s terroir influences wine profiles, all while staying within the urban core of Madrid.
This initiative also highlights the broader Madrid wine scene, the district’s historical significance, and the city’s ongoing commitment to cultural events. The route creates a catalyst for visitors to explore local shops and eateries, enjoy a pleasant day of social discovery, and perhaps take home a bottle or two to remember the experience. In short, the Noc Wine and Literature Route presents a holistic encounter with Madrid that marries storytelling, gastronomy, and viticulture in an accessible, enjoyable format.
