Masymas Supermarkets, part of the Juan Fornés Fornés SA group, is hiring to reinforce its staff for the summer campaign of 2023. The company reports a representative figure of a 20% increase in contracts compared to last year’s summer season, reflecting strong growth and demand during peak months.
The temporary agreements are set to bolster stores with high tourist traffic across the Valencian Community and the Murcia region, as well as strengthen the central warehouse in Pedreguer. The goal is to ensure smooth operations in areas that see a surge in customers during vacation periods and holidays.
New hires are expected to be brought on in stages beginning in May, with training designed to align staff with the specific needs of each location before the summer campaign kicks into full gear. Recruitment will run through August and, in some cases, into mid-September. Masymas also anticipates the possibility that some summer roles may transition into permanent positions after the season ends.

Requirements
Experience is not a prerequisite. The chain prioritizes training and development, with the aim of maintaining a workforce capable of delivering high service standards. Masymas conducted continuous training for its employees, totaling around 30,000 hours in the previous year as part of its commitment to staff growth and capability building.
Positions are expected in areas such as cash handling, stocking, or general store operations. Candidates are sought with a proactive attitude, the ability to work well in teams, and a desire to learn. A strong customer focus and adaptability are valuable traits for roles across various supermarket sections, including ATMs, supplies, and general merchandise handling.
There are 116 Masymas locations distributed throughout the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia. In aggregate, the chain employed about 2,690 people at the end of 2022. Last year, Masymas reported a turnover of 360.6 million euros, reflecting a double-digit increase and the highest annual volume in its history, surpassing even the 2020 peak when the sector faced widespread lockdowns. These figures illustrate the company’s resilience and growth trajectory within the regional market. [citation: Masymas corporate data, 2022-2023]
Juan Fornés Fornés established the Masymas Basic banner to distinguish smaller supermarket formats within the group, reinforcing the brand’s presence and accessibility for local shoppers. With a focus on expansion and renovation, Masymas plans for this year include new store openings and ongoing upgrades. The projected investment stands at 12 million euros, aimed at strengthening the chain’s footprint in Castellón, where 17 stores are already operating. Two new locations are planned in Grao de Castelló and Peñíscola, while two existing outlets in Moraira and Xixona in the province of Alicante are slated for comprehensive renovations. Looking ahead, Masymas intends to continue renovations and pursue additional openings to broaden its regional reach, improving customer access and service quality. These strategic moves align with the company’s objective to sustain growth while maintaining the local, community-focused character that defines Masymas stores across the Valencian Community and neighboring regions.
