The National Police have detained the parents of a newborn who was found abandoned last October in a park in Malaga. The two suspects, a 26 year old man and a 24 year old woman, were arrested in Malaga and Córdoba respectively. Authorities allege that the incident involved attempted murder in connection with the birth and subsequent abandonment.
Security footage from several cameras was reviewed as part of a comprehensive assessment. Investigators conducted a meticulous examination of the area where the infant appeared, analyzing multiple transactions and movements that helped the Malaga Murder Group identify the father and, later, locate the mother. The process combined visual evidence with forensic and investigative work to establish the sequence of events surrounding the newborn.
According to the National Police, the inquiry showed that the birth occurred between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14. Several hours earlier, a passerby found the infant naked and showing signs of hypothermia among bushes in a parking area on Actriz La Tirana Street. Rapid intervention by a National Police radio patrol led to the infant being transported to the Maternal and Child Care Center for urgent care.
Investigators confirmed through the case files and collected evidence that the newborn was born near the location where she was later abandoned. The child remained outdoors for several hours in distress before assistance arrived. The Homicide Group and the Scientific Police conducted the case, enabling the identification of the alleged father, who was arrested in Malaga on a Monday. The mother was subsequently detained in Córdoba with the homicide unit, and both individuals remain in police custody in their respective cities.
In the days following the discovery, the infant was admitted to a hospital and later placed with a host family prepared to provide immediate care and a stable environment.
