Incident in Guardamar: knife attack leaves woman injured; suspect detained

A 32-year-old woman of Colombian origin was injured by a knife in what authorities describe as an attack on public roads in Guardamar del Segura. She is stable with a concealed prognosis and was admitted to Torrevieja University Hospital after sustaining a stab wound to the right rib cage, along with facial injuries and other minor wounds. The 42-year-old alleged aggressor, also of Colombian descent, was arrested shortly after the incident.

The assault occurred on public roads at the intersection of the highway, around 6 pm on Tuesday, at Cervantes and Jorge Juan streets in Guardamar, near a pharmacy and the beach. Investigators are examining whether there was a prior dispute at the victim’s apartment where she previously lived.

According to authorities, the victim had only moved to Guardamar a week earlier to care for an elderly person. The two individuals reportedly lived in Elche before the relocation. The attacker reportedly contacted the victim by phone, seizing the moment to carry out the violence. Civil Guard sources indicate the assault began in the victim’s apartment, after which she went outdoors onto the street.

Medical staff on the scene, including a nearby nurse and pharmacy personnel, attended to the victim as soon as help arrived.

The Guardamar Local Police and emergency medical teams quickly responded, stabilizing the situation and transporting the woman to the hospital. The alleged aggressor fled on foot and was later detained by civil security near the Santa Ana industrial area; he was subsequently struck by a taxi belonging to the same municipality, according to the sources.

According to the Civil Guard, there are no prior complaints on file between those involved.
