Hyperber, the growing chain of supermarkets, extended its footprint with a new store opening this Thursday in San Pedro del Pinatar, a development confirmed by the company. The expansion marks another step in Hyperber’s regional strategy to strengthen its presence in the Region of Murcia and nearby areas around Alicante. With this latest opening, Hyperber operates 74 centers across its footprint and continues to focus on underserved markets where the brand sees potential for growth.

The new center sits at 42 Calle Emilio Castellar, offering a sales floor of 1,600 square meters and a parking facility that accommodates 83 vehicles. This second opening in the year follows a prior launch in Agost, Alicante, underscoring Hyperber’s commitment to extending access to modern grocery shopping in towns that previously lacked a nearby Hyperber presence. The project represents an investment of 600,000 euros, and the store is supported by a local workforce of 17 employees, with additional indirect employment generated during the setup phase in the town.

Hyperber San Pedro del Pinatar adheres to the familiar Hyperber layout, delivering a focus on fresh categories and dependable everyday needs. In line with the brand’s philosophy, the stores emphasize quality produce, meat, and fruit and vegetable sections, all supported by a network of local suppliers. The product assortment comprises about 7,900 references, balancing leading national brands with a curated selection of private label options, ensuring customers have access to both well-known products and value-driven alternatives.

Hyperber expands with solar investment and regional growth

Speaking about the expansion, Jose Bernabeu, the chain’s chief executive, highlighted the importance of the new location as the company’s first store in the Murcia region. He emphasized that the strategic aim is to keep growing, particularly in towns surrounding Alicante, to enhance logistics efficiency and strengthen Hyperber’s market presence. The San Pedro del Pinatar store contributes to the chain’s growing footprint in the province of Alicante, bringing the total number of Hyperber establishments to 74 and expanding the overall sales area to exceed 61,000 square meters.

Hyperber continues to bolster its workforce, with the total employee count surpassing 900. The company completed its 2021 fiscal year with sales reaching approximately 156 million euros, reflecting a rebound from 2020’s adjustments driven by shifts in consumer behavior during the pandemic but still surpassing pre-pandemic performance levels. The firm’s business model centers on promoting fresh categories, paired with a balanced mix of major brands and store-brand offerings, designed to provide customers with reliable options across a broad price spectrum.

Beyond physical expansion, Hyperber has invested in energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives. A notable project involves a 250,000 euro investment in solar self-consumption across its growing store network, signaling a commitment to reducing operating costs while leaning into renewable energy as a long-term operational advantage. This strategic focus supports the company’s goal of maintaining competitive prices and reliable supply chains for communities that rely on Hyperber as a key grocery partner.

As Hyperber’s footprint widens, the company remains focused on delivering fresh, locally sourced products wherever possible, while also ensuring an expansive range that can meet daily shopping needs. The combination of a robust selection, a strong emphasis on fresh departments, and a network of local suppliers helps Hyperber position itself as a dependable choice for households seeking quality goods with convenient access. The ongoing intention is to sustain healthy growth in regions adjacent to Alicante, reinforcing Hyperber’s role as a steady, value-driven presence in southern Spain.
