The Hyperber chain is expanding again, opening a new area in the town of Elda this Thursday. This fresh supermarket marks the 76th Hyperber store and represents the fourth opening by the chain this year, underscoring a steady growth trajectory across the region.
Situated in the capital of the Medio Vinalopó region, the new store sits at 64 Calle Alfonso XIII. It offers a substantial sales floor, complemented by a 1,500 square meter parking lot that accommodates 26 vehicles. The initial investment for launching this site was 620,000 euros, a figure that reflects careful planning and commitment to local commerce.
During the inauguration, Silvia Ibáñez, a member of Elda City Council who oversees Economic Development, Industry and Employment, joined Hiperber’s chief executive officer José Bernabeu to tour the premises. Bernabeu announced that the center will initially operate with a small core team consisting of two managers and 17 direct employees, with additional indirect roles generated in the city through the setup and ongoing operations. The opening event highlighted the job opportunities created for residents and the economic activity sparked by the new store.
The tour showcased the brand’s familiar layout, with a strong focus on fresh produce and high-demand categories. The store emphasizes butcher services and a comprehensive fruit and vegetable section, both of which rely on local suppliers to ensure freshness and support regional producers. The assortment spans nearly 7,900 product references, featuring a mix of leading national brands and the store’s own distribution brands. This blend is designed to provide customers with value, choice, and reliable quality across everyday grocery needs.
So far this year, Hyperber has opened four new supermarkets that have expanded the company’s sales footprint by more than 5,000 square meters. The cumulative investment for these openings totals around 2.67 million euros, reflecting a deliberate strategy to reach more communities while maintaining a strong focus on local sourcing and community engagement. In addition to Elda, new locations have been established in Agost, San Pedro del Pinatar, and Aspe, broadening the chain’s presence across Alicante and nearby regions. The expansions have created 63 new jobs, contributing to local employment and economic vitality as the stores integrate into their neighborhoods.
