Hunt: Showdown unveils a major new event centered on a serpentine plague
Fans of Hunt: Showdown will see the largest event since launch. The update introduces fresh gameplay content, new story snippets, the Viper hunter, and a raft of other additions. The event, nicknamed Snake Moon, runs for 60 days and wraps up on September 25. A supernatural snake plague will spread through the swamp, and players must either capture and sacrifice snakes at the altars for higher activity points or destroy them for fewer points. The choice shapes the risk and reward of each encounter as the hunt goes on.
The event introduces three new features to help hunters deal with the snakes: Zoomorphy, which lets players approach targets unseen; Snake and Venom Detection, which extends the sacrifice range and shows nearby poisoned players; and a reward system tied to clue discovery and boss slayings. These tools add strategic depth and emphasize stealth, exploration, and careful risk management during the chaos of the swamp.
Rewards during Snake Moon include weapons and Blood Bonuses, while the ongoing narrative continues from the previous Traitor’s Moon event. Audiobook content will be released on social channels and major streaming platforms so fans never miss a detail. All players will have the chance to play as the new Legendary Hunter, Viper, during the event’s duration.
Visual evolution marks this launch, as Viper progresses through multiple stages tied to player choices. A new battle pass system, known as the Golden Path, offers players a choice of three access levels: free, standard, and premium. The free tier provides two Viper progression stages, access to Blood Bonuses, various event weapons, and the accompanying new hunter character. The standard tier includes all free-tier rewards plus four Viper evolutions, additional weapons, and Blood Bonuses. The premium tier grants 3,000 Activity Points and all rewards from the free and standard tiers, enabling faster advancement through the battle pass.
No matter the path chosen, every participant receives two fresh weapons: the Romero 77 shotgun and the Sparks pistol. Over the 60-day window, players can earn up to 11 rewards, including buffs, Blood Bonuses, and a selection of weapons such as the Antosha Modified Caldwell Chain Gun and the 71 Silenced Carbine with Vetter. Those who invest in the standard or premium Golden Path Battle Pass unlock an additional 17 rewards, including the Protective Snake Oil antidote and the legendary Winfield M1873 rifle. Hunt: Showdown remains available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
