How to get Hunter Armor

The core mechanic for unlocking Hunter Armor centers on completing three key tasks. Players must finish epic hunts titled Night Predator and For Everyone, and then defeat a unique boss known as Untamed Fury. Each stage grants Kratos a Hunter’s Brand, a necessary ingredient for crafting the full set.

After completing any one of these tasks and securing the initial mark, the Hunter Armor becomes available for crafting. To assemble the full set, four labels must be collected: two for completing tasks and two more after defeating the boss.

How to complete the Night Predator task

This task becomes available after the Crater site is unlocked in Vanaheim, and Ratatoskr will not trigger it until then. The main quest Beasts of Prophecy must be finished first. Later in the story the player returns to the Vanaheim region and automatically receives the Smell of Survival task, which must be finished to access the crater.

Switch the time to night and head to the southern plains. A path to the jungle must be found. In the southwest of the new area, another task called Return of the River appears. Completing it reopens the canyon and allows access to previously closed zones.

With those steps done, the Night Predator task can be pursued. The hunt unfolds on the right bank of the plains, where animal carcasses glow with bright purple light. Forcefully disperse the creatures with knives and begin the hunt. The objective is to defeat the Flame Phantasm boss.

How to complete the In Plain Sight task

Access to the crater is also required for this task, usually via the earlier stage. The quest In Plain Sight activates in the Plains after examining a dead deer. Inspect the second animal body in the northwest, then approach the rock pile marked by the quest to trigger a battle with the Soul Eater. Defeating this foe grants Kratos the hunter’s mark.

How to lure and defeat Unbridled Fury

The final two marks hinge on defeating a distinctive mini-boss. The trickiest part of the fight with Unbridled Fury is locating it, as it can appear in one of three random spots. After taking some damage, it vanishes in a puff of smoke and reappears elsewhere.

Location hints:

Location 1: beside the Wells entrance, after descending to that area from the Plains using a rope.

Location 2: at the far end of the Wells, near the Norns’ chest, where the dragon battle begins as soon as the tunnel is exited.

Location 3: en route to the Wells area, before reaching the arch that leads down.

In total, the fighter can appear five times, though in some playthroughs fewer encounters are needed. A fourth location emerges in the Jungle near the mystic gates, and a fifth sits at the jungle boss lair. Following the blood trail to a southern mystical gate and a short tunnel leads players to the final approach.
