The developer Pearl Abyss has released a long-awaited free update, introducing Drakania Awakening. This marks a significant milestone for Black Desert Online and its Console edition, as the update lands simultaneously on PC and consoles for the first time.
Changes
Awakening brings a fresh playstyle along with a new questline that reveals more about Drakania and her grim legacy. A new season titled Dawn of Dragons is introduced, designed to help players gear up and level quickly. For now, the Season content remains available only to PC players, with console integration planned for future releases.
Free access to the game
New players have an opportunity to try the game for free for 14 days. If a player reaches level 50 with any character during this trial window, they can obtain a pass that keeps the game free forever. Additionally, completing the Rebirth or Awakening quest after reaching level 56 enters a sweepstakes for bonus content, including rare items and in-game currency. Veteran players can also enter the sweepstakes by upgrading three Tuvala teams to PEN level with a Season character. To participate in this promotion, players must download the game client from the official site, not from Steam or a console store. New weapon variant called Trion: New Awakening Weapon combines two spears, one wind powered and one fire powered, allowing Drakania to unleash relentless, dual-axe style assaults.
Drakania can switch between Malefic Blood and Draconic Blood Forms, each form providing different modifiers to attacks.
Awakening is a key feature that lets Drakania remain in Awakening without surpassing her prior form, preserving her combat identity while expanding power.
Melee combat remains the core focus for Drakania, complemented by agile movement abilities that enable quick repositioning in battle.
New Drakania Awakening abilities:
Fierce Shock channels dragon power to strike nearby foes and drive Drakania’s Triad into their ranks.
Harbinger of Chaos guides winds along the left spear, lifting Drakania into the air before a crushing strike.
Shattering Rush (Malefic Blood) combines two spears to direct wind and charge the enemy with speed.
Shattering Rush (Draconian Blood) uses both spears to pull winds forward and repel opponents.
Seismic Roar (Malefic Blood) sends wind along the spear and drops it forward while firing the right spear, leaving a fiery trail that burns enemies.
Seismic Roar (Dragon Blood) directs winds to the left spear and calls dragon power to unleash a forward roar that can devastate foes. The update also includes major technology improvements intended to boost PlayStation 5 performance to 120 FPS and deliver a smoother experience on Black Desert Console.
