Benillup

Benillup, also known as Benimarfull, is a tiny town of 97 residents perched on a gentle hill that overlooks Cocentaina, Millena, and Alfau, with sweeping views from the hilltop known as Vall del Travadell. One of the town’s prime attractions is the Ethnology Museum housed in an old mill, where visitors can see traditional oil and wine production tools used by generations past.

A pleasant eight-kilometer route offers a family-friendly hike of about two and a half hours starting from Benillup toward Benimarfull, presenting nature lovers with another destination rich in scenic options.

Famorca

Famorca sits in a valley framed by the Serrella and Alfaro mountains. Inside the village, visitors can explore the Church of San Cayetano, dating back to the 16th century. Nearby, a snow pit and a network of trails invite exploration on foot from Les Foietes road. For meals amid nature, there is a relaxation area with fountains and picnic tables. Nearby sites include La Cova, Font dels Olbits, and l’Avenc de Famorca. Additionally, the Serrella mountain range hides numerous trails perfect for hiking enthusiasts.

Beyond these attractions, the Serrella massif reveals dozens of routes that lure hikers seeking challenging daylight treks and serene landscapes.

Tollos is the least populated municipality in the Alicante region with 35 residents. Its quiet charm and scenic vistas make it a refreshing stop on a day trip through the hills.

Cost of exploring and trails

The area offers a variety of hiking options, including a notable 19.5-kilometer circular route with medium difficulty that takes about five hours. This path tends to reward walkers with panoramic views from the upper slopes of the Alfaro range and the Malafi valley. While demanding, the route presents priceless scenery and a sense of accomplishment for those who complete it.

The balcony of Benimassot or Serrella

Benimassot sits within the Almudiana range in the Seta valley. This small town, home to around 97 residents, provides several excursion options, including exploring caves linked to Roges and visiting the church of the Immaculate Conception. After a day of exploration, visitors can sample local dishes such as arrós al forn or coquetes fregides to round out the experience, savoring the flavors of this hillside community.
