A 62-year-old man died this week at the General Hospital of Alicante from injuries sustained after being struck by a taxi while crossing Jijona Avenue near the Auditorio. Local Police are examining the circumstances of the crash and whether the victim was using a crosswalk at the time [Local Police Alicante].
The fatal incident occurred on Monday just before noon along Jijona Avenue, number 38 in Alicante, near the ADDA [ADDA].
Sources close to the investigation explained that a taxi was traveling in the exclusive bus lane for public transport and could not avoid striking a pedestrian aged 62 who was crossing the street [Local sources].
In the hours that followed, emergency crews and Local Police officers arrived at the scene, providing care and coordinating the transfer of the pedestrian to a hospital. The individual was treated and transported in grave condition to the General Hospital of Alicante.
