Iran did not receive permission to establish a military base in Sudan. The newspaper writes about this Wall StreetJournal (WSJ) referred to Sudanese intelligence officer Ahmed Hassan Mohammed.
Tehran plans to use its naval base on Sudan’s Red Sea coast to gather intelligence and deploy its ships, the intelligence official said. In exchange for the agreement, Iran promised to provide helicopter carriers, unmanned aerial vehicles and helicopters to the Sudanese army.
It is stated that a naval base will allow Iran to strengthen its control over the Red Sea.
Mohammed announced that the offer was rejected in order to avoid problems in relations with the USA and Israel.
