In the capital, police managed to detain a member of a group of scammers; the man worked as a part-time courier for the scammers and stole more than 15 million rubles from a Moscow woman. This was reported by “MVD Media”.
A 69-year-old Moscow resident gave his statement to police after handing over more than 15 million rubles in cash to an unidentified young man on the street. The scammers convinced the pensioner to cash out all his savings and hand them over to a courier to transfer them to a supposedly “safe” account.
Operators managed to identify and arrest the scammers’ accomplice; it turned out to be a 27-year-old resident of the capital. The man said that he responded to an offer to earn extra money on the Internet, “came to the address specified by the employer,” took money from the elderly woman, converted it into cryptocurrency and transferred it to the electronic wallets indicated to him.
He kept some of the money for himself as a reward. Criminal proceedings were initiated and the defendant was taken into custody.
