Developers at Samar Studio have introduced a fresh open world survival sandbox named The Front, described as a blend of dagz, The Forest, and the Battlefield franchise. A debut trailer with gameplay footage has been published, though viewers should note it may not reflect final production quality.
The setting is a post apocalyptic landscape overrun by mutated zombies and roaming gangs. In a parallel reality, an oppressive empire asserts control, yet a resistance thrives by leveraging advanced technology that enables time travel to revisit the past and alter a bleak outcome.
In describing the experience, the developers outline a war torn world where players confront Imperial troops, exiles, thugs, and rebels who will decide humanity’s future. The journey involves exploring ruined sites and hostile territories, forging weapons and gear, constructing fortified bases, piloting vehicles, contending with harsh weather and environmental hazards, and facing formidable adversaries as part of the broader fight to reshape the course of history.
The Front promises a dynamic environment with shifting weather, day night cycles, a hunger and thirst system, weapon and equipment progression, base building, and the control of diverse machinery including armored vehicles. The open world is described as sprawling across 36 square kilometers, a scale that exceeds the footprint of several well known titles in the genre and offers a sense of vast exploration and strategic depth.
An exact release window has not been announced. Nevertheless, Steam players can already add the project to their wishlist, signaling strong interest ahead of launch.
