In earlier patches the device could emit sounds, and after update v45 it gained the ability to stun opponents. How to use the Ping command
Activating the Ping command with the radar booster name in the terminal triggers an audio message. This audio cue can lure enemies away or help guide crew members more effectively.

- Masks: can be worn on the face but carry the risk of transforming into a mutant; a flash stun can interrupt that transformation.
- Sabotage: stunned, but their acceleration does not reset.
- Reel heads in hunting mode: stunned for about five seconds, though motionless ones are unaffected.
- Eyeless dogs: briefly stunned and then resume prior actions. The flash does not attract their attention, so the accelerator can be placed outside the ship to give crew members time to escape the dog’s scent, board, or close the door.
- Hygroders: stunned for a few seconds, then stop moving and swing violently.
- Vomit: flinch slightly from the stun and resume the hunt; taking down a group with a single stun would require team effort.
