Peter made a presentation about Cervantes Theater and its new programming for the early months of 2024. Fernando Portillo, a responsible council member for the Cultural area, emphasized that the city will continue to support national companies, keep humor at the center of its stages, and ensure that local artists and businesses remain visible in the cultural calendar.
With a clear commitment to the cultural horizon of the first quarter of 2024, Cervantes Theater plans to host a total of 13 performances from January through March. The council member noted the schedule for the first half of the year, explaining that Petrer traditionally hosts many festivities and announcements, but the calendar is somewhat compressed this year due to Easter arriving earlier in the season, shortening the overall time window.
Portillo highlighted the Christmas period as a time to celebrate and suggested a gift idea that resonates with many residents: theater as a meaningful experience to share with loved ones. Beginning this morning, tickets for various shows became available through the official programming page. He also reminded the community that Petrer’s cultural scene is solid and deeply rooted in its traditions.
The program will open on Sunday, January 21 with the new production Journey With Us by Commander Lara y Cía. On Sunday, January 28, audiences will enjoy one of the local offerings, The Comedy of Lies by Taules Teatre, featuring local talents César Garijo and Chris Ranchal.
On Saturday, February 3, Cervantes Theater will glow with magic and illusion, brought to life by the Petrer magician Adrián Carratalá and Katerina with their show Kairós. The following day, Sunday, February 4, Josele, known for his role in the film Campeones, returns to Petrer’s stage with a new performance, Dos Capacitados, alongside Edu Luki.
Thursday, February 8 will spotlight humor with Max Marieges, delivering a fresh stand-up routine designed to entertain a wide audience. The program will also feature dance performances; Maduixa Company will present a standout show in the Valencian Community, Lú, on Sunday, February 11. The mayor recalled a previous private show at El Campet Park where performers and audience shared an intimate, close-up experience, and noted that two sessions will be offered with limited seating to preserve that special dynamic.
Saturday, February 24 marks a milestone as Sense Barreres Teatro returns to Petrer with El Crimen Perfecto, following a tour that earned many prizes. On Sunday, February 25, family audiences will have the chance to enjoy Aladdin, a grand musical from the company Trendacís, which has produced more than 150 performances nationwide.
As March arrives, the local music scene will heat up with a Latin rock concert by Leo Falcone Group, featuring several Petrer artists, on Friday the 1st. Saturday the 2nd brings a fresh children’s show, Benvingut Mr. Hodgkin by the company Desbaratats, described as the latest work from local actor José Luis Beltrán.
One week later, Saturday, March 9 will mark International Women’s Day with a performance organized in collaboration with the Department of Equality and Social Services. On Sunday, March 10, another children’s show arrives from Valencia, Akäshia: the Journey of Light, connected to Cau de l’unicorn. The cultural programming will close on Sunday, March 24 with a performance by the well-known actress Anabel Alonso, presenting Celestina.
