In Baldur’s Gate 3, the myconid colony hosts two local monarchs. Glot is the displaced ruler, while Spav holds power now. This guide explains how to resolve the monarchs’ dispute, whether recruiting a bulky ally is wise, and the consequences of each choice.
Walkthrough of extra tasks Baldur’s Gate 3
Where are Gloth and Spav in Baldur’s Gate 3 and how to start the quests Defeat the Dvergar Invaders and Avenge the Glot Circle
The creatures lie in The Underdark – Myconid Colony. Access it after solving the moon-disc puzzle during the quest Go to the Moon Towers.
You arrive in a settlement where two monarchs can be spoken with. This is also the place to begin Find the Mushroom Picker when talking to Derrit Bonecloak.
Active tasks Defeat the Dvergar Invaders and Avenge the Glot Circle begin after speaking with the monarchs. If, by chance, the characters were missed and the party went straight to the lake, defeating the doorgars, the first objective can be completed in absentia.
If that happens, return to Spav and report that the doorgars are dead and the rot is eliminated. The creature will then ask you to deal with Nere. Completing that task also is required before proceeding to the corpse and severing the head. It’s a gruesome sight, but the only route through the search. Details follow in the paragraphs below.
Defeat the Dvergar Invaders – Should Gloth join the team?
Before heading to the lake, it’s possible to circle back to Glot. He will request joining the group to handle the invaders. If accepted, the enemies will attack immediately without dialogue. This is harder for smaller, not well-equipped parties, so proceed with caution.
For players leaning toward villainy, the best move is not to recruit Gloth. Instead, talk to the porter and agree to help capture the runaway slave. That path starts the Find the Missing Boots quest, which will be explored later.
Many players will find it wiser to leave the myconid in the settlement and earn Geha’s trust first. This lets the party approach Glot more easily when the moment arrives for the opening strike.
With a bit of luck, the enemy may not use invisibility, allowing a faster takedown. Besides the leader, three more doorgars stand in the way and must be defeated.
To Avenge the Circle of the Glot – which side should you pick?
After clearing out the invaders, return to the colony and bring Glot along. Take him to the shore and engage in dialogue. When the discussion unfolds, Glot asks the player to remove Spav in exchange for the Gift of the Circle of Glot. This option suits players who want the villain’s path. Note that refusing the offer will provoke an immediate attack from the deposed monarch.
Away from the Glot
Choosing to side with Glot means preparing for a large-scale confrontation. Nearly every myconid in the settlement will oppose the player after this decision.
After defeating Spav and the other myconids, the player earns the title The Lord’s Confidants and gains the unusual gauntlets called Winter’s Grasp.
Path of Spav
If Glot’s offer is refused and he is slain, loot from the corpse may include a humanoid paralysis tool, a scroll titled Vagueness, thieves’ delicacy, a clump of myconid flesh, Swarming Grebe, Gear Controversy, and traces of poison. These items play roles in subsequent choices and rewards.
After informing Spav that the oppressor was defeated, the character receives the title Solitary Man. Before that moment, the myconids might call the player the Peacemaker. Access to a myconid cache near the location’s merchant offers additional resources. Entering the overlord’s hideout completes the chapter for that arc.
Bring the head to Nera
Make your way to the boat and cross to the southern rubble. Depending on the path chosen, the doorgars can be faced or tricked into avoiding combat. A plan ensures progress toward the objective.
You can speak with the sergeant and use explosives or the Chromatic Ball: Thunder spell to eliminate Nere. Take his head and deliver it to the appropriate myconid companion according to the chosen route.
As a reward, the player receives a rare Messenger amulet.
Find the Missing Boots – how to cure or kill a poisoned leprechaun
The wounded fugitive lies on a large mushroom near Spav in the colony’s center.
Passing the Nature Check reveals poisoning. This opens new dialogue options. The boots can be collected or recovered from the gnome beforehand. The final choice tests the player’s diplomacy; good outcomes can resolve the situation without further bloodshed, while other paths may demand further negotiations.
If the party succeeds, the myconids resurrect the captive as a servant rather than a freed soul.
A healing potion purchased from a nearby merchant can also reverse the harm. Use it to aid the captive and unlock the Save the Gnomes in Grimforge quest, which leads to Geg and a free voyage by boat. After delivering the item to the sergeant in the Underdark’s Grimforge region, the rewards include Armor of the Indomitable Kushigo or Ring of Effort, chosen by the player.
