Black Myth: Wukong lets players shape their journey by choosing how they play. Collecting rare items and donning unique armor is part of the adventure, but the best gear can be easy to miss as the story unfolds. Here are notable pieces and how they fit into progression.
Centipede armor
The centipede set is among the game’s most distinctive mythic armors. It increases stats when the character takes damage and pairs well with poisons and related consumables.
The armor skill is called Protection from Poison.
- Wearing two of the four items gradually reduces poison damage over time.
- Wearing all items increases attack when poisoned.
Content and resources to create
- Centipede hat: Cold iron plates (4), Thin gold wire (2), Will units (7500).
- Qiangjin Style Centipede Armor: Cold iron plates (5), Thin gold wire (2), Will units (8400).

How can you get it?
It can be crafted by spending the listed resources. Crafting these items requires completing the fourth chapter of the story.
Pilgrim’s robes
Ideal for speedrunning, these robes boost attack based on running and streamline movement. The set includes several skills:
- Wearing two of the four items increases running speed.
- Equipping all armor items makes every second of running boost attack by 10%. The boost does not accumulate after ten seconds of fast movement and disappears when running stops.
Additionally, increasing the rarity from uncommon to mythic grants a small flow of focus points per second while running.
Content and resources to create
- Pilgrim’s Edge: Yarn (4), Willpower (1000).
- Pilgrim’s robes: Yarn (5), Willpower (1200).
- Pilgrim bracelets: Yarn (1), Willpower (500).
- Pilgrim leg bands: Yarn (2), Willpower (640).
How can you get it?
Early-game opportunities to craft arrive after the boss Lin Xu-tzu and the Guanyin Temple on Black Wind Mountain, in the first chapter. Upgrading armor requires unlocking the Painted Kingdom after defeating Elder Moon in Chapter 3.
After defeating the enemy, proceed to the Crouching Tiger Temple Basement Shrine in Chapter 2 to speak with NPC Dog Xu and obtain Elder Long’s special medicine. Returning it moves the player to a new zone.
In the Painted Kingdom, seek out the NPC Yin Tiger, who will increase armor rarity for Willpower and Resources depending on the desired tier (Silk, Cold Iron Plate, Thin Golden Thread, Heavenly Ribbon).
Prince’s armor with bull’s head
This set is a solid option for tank-oriented play, offering sturdy defense and potent counterattacks. Its skills focus on resilience, including Unwavering Determination.
- Wearing two of the four items temporarily boosts defense when taking damage.
- Wearing all armor pieces grants a Toughness effect at 50% health or lower, but blocks Perfect Dodges.
Content and resources to create
Prince mask with bull’s head: Thin Golden Thread (2), Heavenly Ribbon (2), Iron Horn of the Prince with the Head of a Bull (2), Will Units (9999).

How can you get it?
Wearing every item of this armor at once is not possible, since only four Iron Horns of the Bull-Headed Prince exist. To obtain the full set, players should complete New Game+ cycles with the same progression.
First, unlock the secret fifth chapter location, Bishui Cave. If not yet explored, a guide can help. Enter the Bishui Cave, Pit of Purification altar, descend the left stairs to the central area, then cross toward the rising indicated in the map. After the ascent, take the fork to the left, rush to the circular area, and head northeast past two enemies to locate a new altar.
Proceed along the path past all foes until a chest appears on the left containing one iron horn. Return to the path and continue forward, navigating the suspension bridge, then slide down to the arena to face the boss. Defeating the boss yields three iron horns for the bull-headed prince.
Luna scale armor
Equipping all three pieces minimizes the duration of a hit effect and increases lightning damage dealt to opponents.
Rarity upgrades from epic to mythic amplify lightning damage against foes.
Content and resources to create
- Moonscale combat gear: Silk (5), cold iron plates (2), Will units (4500).
- Moonscale combat gear: Silk (1), cold iron plates (1), will units (2000).

How can you get it?
Crafting can take place at the appropriate location after defeating the Kan-Jin Star boss. The boss is required to finish the game, so the opportunity won’t be missed. Rarity upgrading follows the same method used for the Pilgrim’s Cloak.
Golden armor
This armor centers on spirits or artifacts and carries the power called Golden Glow.
- Wearing two of the four items after activating a spirit or talisman boosts attack for a short period.
- Equipping all armor pieces grants Chi after a critical hit or defeat of an enemy.
