Amber in it Enshrouded is a key resource for crafting a range of useful items. But it isn’t available right at the start of the adventure. Access requires some preparatory steps, so this guide explains why amber matters, where to locate it, how to mine it, and which recipes depend on it.

How to find amber
As noted earlier, amber cannot be obtained during the very first stages of the game.
Amber is veiled by a protective barrier that harms weaker characters. To begin mining, players must fortify the Altar of Flame to the third level. Doing so expands the footprint of accessible buildings and dispels the Veil, clearing the path to amber.
Where do you find amber?
After stabilizing the altar, head to the Rampant Forest and seek out the Ancient Spire.
Breakthrough to a fast travel point atop the spire to reach the region more quickly in future journeys. To the east of the spire lies a fog-draped valley with numerous amber veins. The veins are easy to miss in the mist, but they resemble yellowish clay when spotted.
Typically, amber veins sit near steep cliffs or between small stone columns in the heart of the gorge. Successful mining requires a sturdy pickaxe. The tool’s quality speeds up extraction, and a single deposit can yield roughly 30–40 amber units.
Which recipes require amber?
Once enough amber is gathered, use it to empower the Altar of the Flame. Upgrading the altar to level four requires 15 amber units and unlocks a broader range of areas by lifting the Veil.
If you’re a mage, keep an eye out for an improved Fireball spell, which unlocks after spending 5 amber. Reaching level 17 triggers the Alchemist quest, and with 50 amber you can unlock the Eternal Fireball, an endlessly usable version of the spell.
Upgrading or purchasing equipment unlocks the Alchemist’s Apprentice outfit. The enhanced version, obtainable for 14 amber, grants mage armor, improves spell efficiency, and enlarges the mana reserve. Over time, most mage gear will require amber, so it’s wise to maintain a reserve for future purchases.
The healer class offers armor that boosts healing abilities and costs 15 amber.
For warriors, Guardian armor provides solid protection and can be acquired for 12 amber.
Looking ahead, amber will see expanded use in crafting furniture and interior items as new facilities and decorative options become available.
