Sber and Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) unveiled a state-of-the-art Situation Center designed to oversee campus infrastructure, a development presented during the VIII Eastern Economic Forum, according to the bank’s press service.

The center operates on the Smart Campus software, a joint product created by Sberbank and FEFU with backing from the Priority 2030 government program. The core goal is to enable students and teachers to concentrate on learning and research by minimizing daily and financial distractions, delivering a more comfortable campus environment.

“Smart Campus goes beyond a mere high-tech management tool for a modern university. It embodies a people-centric approach, placing the needs and experiences of individuals at the heart of digital solutions. I anticipate Smart Campus will become one of the most widely adopted platforms supporting higher education nationwide,” stated Stanislav Kuznetsov, deputy chairman of the board of directors at Sberbank.

Smart Campus reduces maintenance and operating costs while boosting energy efficiency and resource conservation. For instance, automatic lighting control and optimized power, heating, water, ventilation, and air conditioning systems can cut energy use by about 20 percent. Service operations shift from reactive fault response to planned preventive maintenance using real-time data from smart devices, increasing technical staff productivity by roughly one-third and reducing incidents and outages. The system also extends equipment lifespans and helps forecast future maintenance expenditures.

Decision-making is strengthened by reliable, data-driven insights into environmental conditions and the performance of engineering systems, rather than being grounded solely in subjective assessments. Campus status is organized into customizable dashboards shown in the Status Center, giving administrators a clear, centralized view of operations.

Security remains a priority with access controls, including Face ID for the campus perimeter and smart cameras that facilitate smooth transitions between buildings without needing to pass through each door. These cameras also detect unusual or dangerous behavior and help prevent emergencies in a timely manner. Monitoring foot traffic and transit flows allows for more efficient use of educational and public spaces and supports a duties schedule for campus services.

In early June, Sberbank Chairman German Gref attended the exhibition titled “Eurasia is Our Home,” where the company’s solutions were presented to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to highlight potential gains in healthcare, education, and other sectors of the economy per the event materials.
