Rosneft and the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) are broadening their joint efforts in training and retraining personnel, advancing scientific and innovative work, and upgrading the university’s scientific and educational infrastructure. An agreement on education and science collaboration was signed during the Eastern Economic Forum, marking a new phase of closer ties between the oil company and the university, as reported by Rosneft’s press service.

The signing took place with Rosneft Chief Executive Igor Sechin and FEFU Rector Boris Korobets representing their organizations. The partnership signals a sustained commitment to projects that merge scientific inquiry with practical industry needs, a track record the two institutions have cultivated for more than a decade. Within this framework, graduates are trained in key disciplines aligned with Rosneft’s core sectors, including oil and gas engineering, chemical technology, power and electrical engineering, process automation, mechanical engineering, and shipbuilding.

As part of building a comprehensive scientific and educational foundation at FEFU, Rosneft plans to establish a corporate competence center. The center is designed to comprise 18 classrooms, three shared study zones, 12 laboratories, and two central departments. It will host educational laboratories focused on ship design modeling, robotics, computer programming, and design studies, alongside R/AR technology explorations that marry augmented reality with practical tasks using common mobile devices. This initiative aims to accelerate hands-on learning and foster innovation across disciplines.

The initial phase of the center, named the Engineering thematic module, has already been launched, offering students and professionals a tangible entry point into applied projects. Beyond the campus, the collaboration envisions advanced training and retraining programs for personnel in coastal shipbuilding and ship repair industries, delivered through a center-based approach to create a flexible and scalable education system that keeps pace with industry developments.

FEFU continues to train engineers in critical maritime and energy fields, including shipbuilding, ocean engineering, oil and gas engineering, chemical technology, energy engineering, electrical engineering, process automation, and mechanical engineering. The ongoing partnership strengthens the university’s ability to supply highly skilled professionals to major industrial hubs in the region and beyond.

Rosneft highlights its role in supporting workforce development for coastal shipbuilding facilities and enterprise centers such as the Zvezda shipbuilding complex and the Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center, underscoring the long-standing commitment to supplying top-tier talent for Russia’s strategic maritime and energy sectors.
