A recent discovery points to a near-identical version of the upcoming Russian device known as R-FON appearing alongside a closely matching model from abroad. The rival twin has been identified as the American-Chinese Nuu A25, a detail shared by Mobiltelefon’s chief editor Evgeniy Makarov on a Telegram channel.

According to the summary, an Android smartphone from the United States priced around 170 USD with free shipping has been identified as the Nuu A25 by the source. Subscribers quickly noted the external similarity between the anticipated R-FON and the Nuu A25, a pattern that echoes earlier findings in other markets. In Bangladesh, a device sharing the same design as a Russian model called Symphony Helio 80 surfaced, with the cameras providing the key point of differentiation: the Russian device boasted a 50 megapixel sensor, while the foreign counterpart carried a 108 megapixel sensor.

In this scenario the American Nuu A25 appears to mirror the R-FON on several core aspects, including camera capabilities. The main variances lie in memory configuration, with the native R-FON offering 6 GB of RAM while the Nuu A25 ships with 8 GB.

The company behind the R-FON, NUU Mobile, is listed as operating in Irving, Texas, United States, and in Hong Kong.

In October, Rutek, the Russian manufacturer of R-FON, addressed questions about the similarities observed between the domestic device and the Bangladeshi counterpart. Rutek’s official line emphasizes that there is no confirmed information about the Bangladeshi smartphone, which has appeared across various media outlets. The position remains clear: the R-FON and the foreign device are distinct products.

Rutek also notes that the R-FON is produced in Russia and runs on the domestic ROSA Mobile operating system. At the same time, it was acknowledged that foreign components are used in the production process, as there is currently no fully domestic hardware solution.

R-FON is anticipated to be launched in 2024, with pricing details yet to be announced. The broader market for Russian smartphones and tablets running Aurora OS has shown stronger-than-expected sales in recent periods, signaling robust local demand for domestically developed devices.
