Forgotten Nightmares
Following a series of minor updates and balance tweaks, the Diablo Immortal development team has wrapped up work on the Forgotten Nightmares expansion and plans to release it later this week, specifically on September 28. The update brings a substantial amount of new content to the game, including the Quiet Monastery maze and the Cyrangar Castle region, both offering notable rewards. The developers have also introduced a new weapon system intended to benefit all members of the same party as they play together.
Forgotten Nightmares
While navigating Purge from the depths of Cyrangar Castle and its defenses, players will discover Ancient Weapons. To maximize power, these weapons can be placed on the ancestors’ altar—a special setup that grants table bonuses to attributes like strength and intelligence for everyone in the party. Beyond the bonus features, those wearing summoning gear will be able to tap into the ancient weapons’ warband powers. The update also marks the premiere of the fifth season of Diablo Immortal, titled Scions of the Storm, which includes a new battle pass with 40 ranks featuring challenges and rewards such as crests, aces, and legendary jewels.
New raid boss
Blizzard confirmed the arrival of Deformed Izilech as the newest raid boss in Diablo Immortal. Said to have defied the great devil and survived, his body remains twisted, earning him the moniker Deformed — a tortured soul doomed to drift aboard a ship of fate. Players aiming for the boss will want a well-rounded team and a strategy that can handle his distinctive, ravaged form, as this encounter tests both skill and coordination.
Anyone with a battle rating of 6175 or higher should assemble a party and speak with Rayek in front of the Einfrinn Tree in Westmarch, starting at server time 03:00 on October 2, to face the Warp. Completing the final pages of the legend book will reward players with the Crown of the Iranians among the ruins. Placing this crown in the top slot of the Infernorium grants a 30-degree boost to overall combat readiness and a 10% movement speed increase on failed attempts, providing a meaningful edge in challenging engagements.
The game will also host a limited-time event titled Purging the Darkness, running from September 28 to October 19. During this event, players are invited to explore Silent Monastery and Cyrangar Castle in pursuit of fresh rewards, including a new greeting emoticon. The event also introduces Forgotten Nightmares legendary jewels and gear, an expanded bestiary, and additional pages for the hero’s journey, among other enhancements.
The return of the hungry moon
When the hungry moon returns, players will find a different rhythm for their responses to its call. From October 6 at 03:00 to October 10, players can complete up to three objectives per day per server. This mechanic grants access to the power of the astrolabe, which offers one of two blessings with unique benefits. The Blessing of Magic increases the chances of finding rare, magical, or legendary items during monster slayings. The Blessing of Might awards Moonshards for dungeon completion, with higher yields when done as a group. Since the moon is generous, players can activate both blessings at once, maximizing their gains in a single window.
In sum, the Forgotten Nightmares update expands exploration, rewarding play, and teamwork in meaningful ways. It invites adventurers to tackle new zones, disrupt a formidable new raid boss, and optimize their builds with ancient weapons and two potent blessings, all while a new season and event cadence keep the cycle fresh for veteran players and newcomers alike.
